During the past four years on City Council, I have worked on these key issues to help move Novi forward.
Safeguarding City Finances
Voted to approve lowest city millage rate in 15 years.
Four years of balanced city budgets with no significant cuts in services to residents.
Supported fiscal policies that helped the city secure S&P affirmation of AA+ rating on city's long-term debt obligations.
Investing in Novi's Infrastructure:
Supported major upgrades to city main roads including Novi Road, Grand River Avenue, Meadowbrook Road and Haggerty Road.
Backed voter-approved increase in city's street millage to allow for additional investment in city streets and sidewalks.
Voted to support construction of Nine Mile pathway between Haggerty and Meadowbrook Roads. This project won several awards for its design.
Chaired Walkable Novi committee during the development of the City's Non-Motorized Transportation Master Plan. This plan was awarded the Michigan Association of Planning's "Outstanding Planning Project for Best Practice" award.
Several miles of new sidewalks and pathways offering needed connections and popular destinations for cyclists and pedestrians.
Backed the proposed construction of a new water storage tank to help lower future water rates.
Enhancing Public Participation
Encouraged public participation through 2 public meetings and public online survey in the creation of the city's Non-Motorized Transportation Master Plan.
Supported biannual citizens survey and community assessment survey of older adults to measure improvements in city services and ensure that residents needs are being met.
Improving Novi's Quality of Life:
Completion and opening of new Novi Public Library in 2010 that better meets the technological, educational and recreational demands of an increasingly diverse community.
Led effort to secure dedicated funding for senior transportation services.
Supported acquisition of Villa Barr property and future public sculpture park.
Led effort to create a regional trail system along the ITC corridor. First phase is being constructed in Fall 2013.
Novi recognized as one of the top 10 cities for families in America by Family Circle Magazine. This award is based on the availability of affordable homes, quality schools, access to health care, green space, low crime rate and financial stability.
Supported investment in city's snowplowing capabilities to improve response time to winter snow events.
Supporting Novi's Businesses:
Backed effort to fully utilize city's existing quote liquor licenses.
Supported changes in city's zoning ordinance and permitting process to eliminate unnecessary obstacles to business expansion while maintaining high city standards.
Keeping Novi Green:

Supported designation of "Landings" property as a public park and renaming to Pavilion Shore Park
Supported effort to secure $437,500 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant to develop Pavilion Shore Park.
Supported new playground structures at Lakeshore and Rotary Parks.
Supported pathway improvements to Brookfarm Park to make the park more accessible to residents.
